Endodontics
Have you ever heard of Endodontics?
In severe cases of infection, such as the most advanced dental caries lesions, the damage caused to the teeth can reach the dental pulp (dental nerve) and the root. When faced with a situation like this, the solution involves removing the tooth root.
Endodontics is the Dentistry area of speciality through which this type of treatment is carried out. Often, endodontic treatments are part of a treatment plan that includes Oral Rehabilitation and Periodontology specialities.

What is devitalisation?
The purpose of a root canal treatment is the preservation of the tooth. It is performed when its internal tissues are infected or damaged, compromising the health of the teeth and gums.
By “cleaning” the inside of the tooth and filling it with an appropriate material, we avoid its continued deterioration and its extraction. But it is not always necessary to devitalise the tooth to save it, so a correct diagnosis is fundamental.
