Did you know that brushing your teeth with the tap running wastes 81 litres of water a day?

Feb, 2024

Did you know that brushing your teeth with the tap running wastes 81 litres of water a day?

Lavatory taps use 9 litres per minute, which means that if you wash 4 times a day, 20 seconds each, that’s 12 litres of water.

Since the recommended time is 3 minutes for each brushing, 3 times a day, that would be a total of 9 minutes a day, so we’re talking about 81 litres of water wasted.

After the IPMA announced that 11 per cent of the country is in extreme drought, our suggestion is to always turn off the tap while brushing your teeth and use a glass of water.

Water is a precious resource for everyone and if we change our habits, we’ll change the price we pay at the end of the month and we’ll have a much better future.

Now you know, turn off the tap!
